Adding a new file type in Joomla
Is Joomla stopping you from uploading a particular file type. The reason is by default Joomla only allows certain file types to be uploaded. You can change this should you need to by doing the following.

1: Login to your Joomla administration.
2: Click on System > Control Panel.
3: In the Menu on the left sidebar Click on Media.
4: To the right of the screen you will see an Options button. Click it.
5: In the Options you will see a field called Legal Mime Types. Here you can add a new file type.

Example: If you need to add an svg file type then add image/svg to the list.

6: Click Save and Close.
